Crochet Key Hole Scarf Pattern ~ $5.00 AUD

Visit my Ravelry  Shop or

keyhole-title2-2Key Hole Scarf, a great beginner’s Crochet Pattern.
An easy pattern for beginners & a quickie for the more experienced…

Requirements:
Yarn: 100 grams (3.5 oz) 8ply yarn (this may vary depending on yarn) – Hook: 6.50 (K)

I receive lots of requests for easy to make crochet patterns from less experienced folk who would like to make something other than granny squares… Patterns that are easy to read & achievable in a shortish time … Items that can be made for themselves or gifts for family & friends…

This Crochet Key Hole Scarf is one such pattern that I hope will be useful for both beginners & the more experienced alike… the finished item (approx: 89cm (35″) long x 15cm (6″) wide. depending on yarn & hook used) is a short scarf that is bulky enough to keep out the chills but compact enough to pop into your jacket pocket when not needed…

As always, I’ve given yarn & hook requirements but feel free to use yarns & hooks of choice… make it your project & experiment with 8, 10 or 12 ply yarn & appropriate hooks… don’t be afraid to work 2 yarns together using a large hook (6.50 (K), 8.00 (L), 9.00 (M), 10.00 (N))… The edging I’ve given is a shell with picot, but here again, there’s no reason why you can’t change this to a fringe or even leave it plain…

The pattern includes:
written pattern in both UK & US terminology
clear stitch instruction
pattern diagram (chart)

Sandstone – Poncho: $5.00 AUD

SandstoneVisit my Ravelry store or

Although I’m giving written instructions, both written & in diagram (chart), I nevertheless consider it as a basically freeform/freestyle pattern…. after all you have to start somewhere….

Your choice of yarn/yarns, buttons, beads, even crochet motifs that can be sewn on later, your hook size, working the pattern in dc (US sc), htr (US hdc), tr (US dc), dtr (US tr) or combinations there of – whether you work your foundation chain length or width wise (as in photos) – particularly relevant when working in stripes – will all determine the look of your finished project.

Experiment & have fun with this dead easy basic freeform/freestyle pattern

  • The pattern includes:
  • instructions for the basic mesh stitch, Off-set Puff stitch & tassel
  • both UK & US terminology
  • clear stitch drawings & pattern diagrams (charts)

The yarn used in Sandstone was found (without labels) in a garage sale & I presume it’s 12 ply cotton – I used approx 290 grms

Kwik Chic Scarf/Muffler: $5.00 AUD

Kwik Chic Scarf/MufflerVisit my Raverly store or

make the flower & inlet first then use the rest of the ball/skein for the scarf/muffler – a great way to use up that odd ball/skein in the stash

Suggested Yarn: for the pink & 2 grey mufflers I used approx 1 x 50 gram skein of Lincraft Winter Warmth – for the cream muffler I used an unknown yarn that I presume to be a loopy cotton 5 ply

However I would give any fine yarn, except Eyelash or very hairy yarns, a go – just keep in mind that if the yarn is too textured the flower motif will not show as well

  • The pattern includes:
  • the scarf & flower pattern
  • Both UK & US terminology
  • clear stitch drawings & pattern diagrams (charts)
  • assembly instructions

Headband/scarf with beads: $5.00 AUD

Experiment & have fun with this dead easy basic freeform pattern

The freeform technique is explained in my book ‘Freeform Crochet & beyond’ sold world wide. Freeform by its very nature is not a pattern based technique where you must follow a pattern but a creative journey of bringing together many skills into your work. My book has examples of this & a collections of patterns to get you started, inspire & help you to achieve your own directions
There is also a quick freeform tutorial that may help https://rensfibreart.wordpress.com/what-is-freeform/quick-freeform-tutorial/

While my patterns for sale are mostly traditional based, many of them also lend themselves to experimentation with stitches, yarn & hooks, which I believe, for the newcomer to freeform, is helpful for them to step outside the limits of just following a pattern….

You will find my freeform & traditions pieces for sale on my Galleries pages
